I, ROBOT

I'm coming back in a military aircraft. Now I'm going toward the International Airport of Val-de-Dogs in Belém (Pará) and that at the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean. Still in the aisle way I looking for my seat. There are many soldiers in my way. This flight is exceptionally full of soldiers. The number 53 is my seat. I'm watching the numbers indicating their seats as I walk: 41... 45... 49... 53... I got...! Oops...! That's not...! I'll be beside the ambassador of South Korea in Brazil! She smiled sweetly at me. Your beautiful eyes stare directly into mine. I feel like I'm already floating in the clouds, but in fact the plane took off even! She greets me:

- Ahhh...! Good morning! How did you spend the night in the hotel?
- Okay, Fernando! I have not seen you roaming the hotel last night. Where have you been?

As I straighten my backpack compartment above our heads, I answer the question of Chin-Mae:

- I? I was in my room! The accommodation of military craft are not exactly like five stars. I was with my sleep-deprived and with a job for me to finish! I had to divide the time available between one thing and another. Anyway I managed to place both days. Now I have to prepare myself for the details of this mission.

- Don't worry about me, Fernando! I do not want to disturb your work!
- Ohhh...! No, ma'am...! I did not mean that I have to do this right now ...! Actually I do such a thing during the boat trip. Now I would like to talk to you for me to know more about your country.

I sit in the chair next to the ambassador. She approaches her face in my right ear for me to speak quietly and in secret:

- Hope you do not want to talk about our destination! Advised not think we talk in public about the mission!
- Ahhh! Sure! Sure! I want you to tell me more about South Korea! Costumes...! Habits popular...! Hobbies of the people...!
- You realize that you are no longer sneezing near me? (Ambassador recalls).
- Yeah...! Looks like I got better...! You are not using today...
- I'm not wearing perfume today! I just spent a skin cream with no odor. I realized yesterday that you have allergies to fragrance! And how will you be my tour guide for the next few days, I thought it best to make your trip more enjoyable.
- Wow! Thank you, ma'am! Very kind of you to worry about my well-being!
- I hope you can repay me the favor one day!
- Uh...! Sure thing...! When you need...! I'm here to help you, ma'am.
- Fernando! Can you do me a favor?
- Of course, madam! What do you want?

- I ask that you do not call me ma'am over! It bothers me! I am older and more distant from the people who treat me this way. After all, I'm just a little older than you! And as we'll be together for several days, I prefer you do not treat me this way more.

- And how should I call it then, ma'am?
- I treat you by name! Would you do the same for me!
- Ahhh! Ok...! Chin-Mae! It's a beautiful name!
- The sound of Oriental names are not very pleasing to the ears Latinos! Our language is very different from the language of you and therefore communication is the main difficulty between our peoples. When I began to understand them better, I realized that there are many interesting things on the Brazilian people.
- Really? Like what, for example?

CHARACTERS OF
THIS BOOK

- Well! You are very happy, party-goers, professionals and creative! Brazilian food is very varied and tasty! You play very good football, volleyball, judo and you are exceptional in agricultural development, genetic and technological. The national music is amazing! I love samba! Also sounds like a lot of you old as Dorival Caymmi, Bezerra da Silva, Roberto Carlos and others. Brazilians are a people unpredictable!

- Ohhh! It is very good to know that Brazil has such international recognition (I, Fernando, commenting). We have really excelled in the various areas!
- It's true! And I see that in the technology you are slowly overcoming the Americans! After all, is not every day that mission as important as this become so dependent on a foreign country like Brazil. His government is not even part of the group of allies U.S. standards during conflicts. You impressed us a lot with the American demand for its Brazilian boat in the front line and as the pivot that will trigger the start of the Korean conflict end.
- Yes! I also did not know that our scientists and researchers were going so far! I was surprised by all this!
- The government of South Korea is very interested in knowing more details of this vessel.
- Well, Ladies..., I mean, Chin-Mae, unfortunately this project can not be disclosed for the next fifteen years. It is something secret and my country has several missions planned for it before it can be available as more detailed information about its operation, both for the public and to other governments.
- I understand! Fernando! What about your job? Has worked in other jobs before this?

- Yes, mada.... Chin-Mae...! Excuse me...! I'll take some time to get used to it...! I Worked in other menial jobs before being hired by the Navy. In my last job, the owner had contacts naval and he learned that they needed a good professional in my area. As my contract was temporary and it would not be renewed because I just completed the time for a maternity leave of another colleague, I was appointed to this position that I occupy today.

- It was very good that you were in the right place at the right time!
- It seems that this is the story of my life! Good things always happen to me! I'm glad this new job! There are many benefits, but the main thing is to do something useful for society, even if my work can't be recognized for years to come!
- I'm glad you're not upset about it! You have to be very professional to devote so much work!
- It is! I am extremely professional and I try not to let my personal feelings interfere with the end result of my work. That's why I came here and that's why my superiors are always praising the ultimate conclusions I reach.
- This is good! But feelings are an important part in our work too! Without them we run the risk that we are so impartial that we can be confused with someone who does not care about what happens around us. Often a need to work not only of personal passion, but also of personal commitment! How we must interfere ..., this is at the discretion of each.
- In my work, Chin-Mae, impartiality is necessary for you to look at the history aiming exclusively professional. While in my last mission I ended up being a type of protagonist that unexpected and accelerated the end of things.
- The admiral spoke highly of you. He said he read the daily reports of the members of the previous mission and he found its performance and exemplary unexpected. And from what I understand you were just trying to do your job when you just directly participating in the final results.
- Yeah...! It was unintentional...! I was involved by being in the location that became the front line of the mission. I expected just spoon some testimonials for my research and when I realized, I had already become the center of the battle between our military and the enemy.
- The admiral said that you saved at the end of the mission! Without it the result would have been disastrous!
- Yeah...! I actually had the right idea to solve the problem at the moment, but it was all very unexpected!
- From what I see, Fernando! You are always on the front line! (the ambassador states).
- Why do you say that?
- When I knew you would be my cicerone, I wanted to know all about you! For me it is important to know the person with whom I will work, precisely because if I need your help in a particular situation, I know I can count on you! I accepted his presence with me because I realized that you naturally excels wherever you are and also you get involved when it is needed.
- Thanks for the comments and compliments, Chin-Mae. But I think you're wrong! I do not see myself as someone who purposely engages. I'm looking for exactly the opposite in these moments.
- In vain search for the opposite of what we really are, we find what we did not expect, and probably that's what we
- I do not know if it's true what you say, but it seems that this thought summarizes what happens to me on a day-to-day. And it seems that when I try to learn more about your country, I end up talking about me and the things of my own. I think I crossed back to the forefront of my research!
- No! You have not crossed...! But when... and if you cross... I will tell you, and maybe I'll thank you for it until one day.

The ambassador smiled at me when she says it! I was in doubt about what she meant by that?! The ambassador was referring to something personal, professional or specifically about our mission? Does this beautiful woman is hiding something in his past or present that involve me in some way? Does this affect me or our mission? I remembered her last conversation with Admiral Figueiredo, yesterday when we went out of the room. She had asked for us we avoided deaths during the invasion of North Korea! But the truth is that our job is to just destroy the transmission tower. It is up to allies massively attack with bombs, after we have reached our goal in the center of the country. I do not know how we will avoid deaths if we're going to war! But if possible, should be given her the Nobel Peace Prize, has been modified by the concept of war! However there are many points of questions floating around in my mind right now. It will be up to the Brazilian Navy, who is riding the strategy of our invasion, and allies, that will destroy the enemy military targets in order to make possible the pacification of the region. It's up to me to document everything that will happen, following the events subsequent to our mission from inside North Korea.
